Must Have Mimobot!

Posted by: User Imagekaydee (Who am I?)  /  Category: storage

I’m sure you’re a bit tired of all the weird USB flash disk designs out there. I was, too, until I caught sight of Mimoco’s outstanding Star Wars Mimobots. Available in 1, 2, 4 and 8 GB capacity, these flash disks/drool-worthy gadgets sent my head into a serious tailspin. I know that these are just flash disks and yes there are tons of 30,000GB-capable (okay, I’m exaggerating) versions out there, but with Princess Leia here, who the hell cares?

And yes, I’m an extremely big fan of Wicket the Ewok. I know, I know — true-blue geeks hate those furry Ewoks. But I love them! I watched the cartoon, too, by the way. In case you’re wondering, I think I was around eight when I watched Return of the Jedi. My guy cousins were in their teens then, I think.

So anyway, yes, I want this. I want all of them, in fact, except Darth Vader, Chewbacca and the Storm Trooper are all sold out. Boo. Thankfully enough, Mimoco does not offer a Jar-jar Binks version.

Mimoco also has other design lines, including Tokidoki (another likey!), Happy Tree Friends, Halo and Domo.

Unfortunately for male geeks, no Slave Princess Leia is available. Too bad. No gold bikini for you guys!

Pretty Shiny Portable Hard Drives

Posted by: User Imagekaydee (Who am I?)  /  Category: storage

I’m a big fan of pretty, shiny things — as you probably know by now.

I like pretty, but without compromising function, of course. Which is why I’ve decided to feature two beautiful hard drives instead of just focusing on the obviously more attractive one. I just thought that it wouldn’t be fair to my geek self if I stood by the shiny object and ignored the obviously more practical (though a little less fabulous) choice.

So here goes.

Let’s start with the flashier one: Iomega’s “eGo”, shiny portable hard drive shaped like a flask. Pretty. It also offers an impressive capacity at 160 GB, as well as a drop guard that ensures the safety of your data in the event of a nasty fall. The last bit is quite important, considering how portable hard drives are so prone to accidents. This baby clocks in at approximately $100.

Much more impressive, however, is Western Digital’s “My Passport” portable hard disk. Though not as flashy (read: lacks the sparkly pink case of “eGo”), it does have much bigger capacity: 250 GB. More importantly, you get this nifty little gadget for only $125. Bigger capacity for just a few more bucks. Isn’t that the proper choice for a geek?

I actually own the WD “My Passport”. I use it to backup my beloved MacLovin with the built-in Time Machine program. I also keep a few movies, TV series and short videos in it. Overall, I have to say it’s quite a handy gadget to have. And it’s not like it’s ugly, too. It’s pretty and red and has nice curves to boot.

The geeky side of me is happy I have the HD with the bigger capacity, but the fashionista side sort of wishes my WD had at least half of the eGo’s sparkle.

Sinful Combination: Chocolate + Technology

Posted by: User Imagekaydee (Who am I?)  /  Category: cellphone, cellphone accessories, storage

Unlike most girls, I don’t exactly go crazy over chocolate. Unless, of course, it has mint in it.chocolate

I’m not fond of the commercial brands like Hershey’s and Cadbury; their products are so sweet they taste bland in my mouth, and I don’t really fancy bland. Instead, I’m a fan of the interesting types of chocolates — those that come in a variety of flavors, shapes and sizes. I’ll try any variety once, be it fruity, spicy or combined with some other flavor.

If you can imagine the chocolates sold by the protagonist in the movie, “Chocolat”, those are the kinds of chocolate I’d like to try. Of course I’m partial to the movie because it has Johnny Depp, but I’m serious when I say I literally drooled over the parade of chocolates.

Anyway, I suppose a lot of manufacturers now realize the power of chocolate to motivate. We’ve got more than a few gadgets “inspired” by chocolate; even named after it, in fact. The result, not surprisingly, is a beautiful and sophisticated combination of beauty, technology and the elusive “yummy” factor.

Here’s my list of the hottest gadgets and accessories that pay homage to the most loved of sweets: chocolate.
